The band ‘Pop Will Eat Itself’ had a point. Pop culture always feeds off itself in such a way that it bleeds itself dry and dies. The money and the media play a part in this but us, the paying public, with our fickle and short attention spans are manipulated by those two forces. In 1996 Britpop was at it’s zenith and the populace bought into all kinds of overblown nonsense that would ultimately kill the golden goose within 18 months….
