Why a subscription radio service is the simplest and best form of music discovery and delivery.
Music isn’t free. In the early days of the Internet, we expected everything to be free. News, music, video, games, communications, etc. But nothing in this world is truly free. Someone somewhere is paying for it. These days, services are paid for with intrusive and obnoxious ads, which are powered by our personal data.
We know that you are as passionate about the music as we are. We also know that you, like we do, despise advertisements and the harvesting of your personal data. That is why we are charging a modest subscription price to access our radio service. This will help cover the royalty costs of all our affiliate stations and allow us to keep our service ad-free. If you, like we do, spend all day listening to music, we feel this price is a very fair ask for the service you receive in return.
To put things into perspective, the average station pays a MINIMUM of $3,000 per year to cover all their royalties. Stations with larger listener bases end up paying even more. Most of them are running their stations as a passion project. We would like to help them fund their passions and keep supporting the music we love. Without your support, these stations would eventually drop off the air
On the other end, musicians today work harder than ever to stand out in a crowded field. Aside from a few legacy acts coasting on their fame, and megastars selling out arenas, most musicians are barely getting by. We at InternetFM want to make sure that these hardworking artists receive the money they have earned. However, this is an expensive proposition for poor, independent radio stations. That is why we are asking for your support.
Please consider a subscription to InternetFM as your way of patronizing the arts. Supporting the arts is its own reward, and we hope that the features in the InternetFM Radio app are a bonus incentive to keep you coming back again and again for more great music.
