Song of the Day – Wilco Live at the Troubadour L.A. 1996

Wilco “Live At The Troubadour L.A. 1996” 2018/1997 Reprise Records – I saw this tour at The 9:30 Club In Washington DC with the Old ‘97s as the opening act. Prime example of the Bennett years.

The album features Wilco’s original lineup, including Jeff Tweedy (vocals, guitar), John Stirratt (bass), Ken Coomer (drums), Max Johnston (mandolin, banjo, fiddle, lap steel guitar), and Jay Bennett (guitar, keyboards). This lineup would go on to record Wilco’s seminal albums “Being There” (1996) and “Summerteeth” (1999) before undergoing significant changes in the early 2000s.

“Live at the Troubadour” showcases Wilco’s blend of alt-country, folk-rock, and indie rock influences. The performance captures the energy and rawness of the band’s early live shows, featuring songs from their debut album “A.M.” (1995) as well as a few tracks that would later appear on “Being There.”

This album was originally released as a promotional cassette and was released on vinyl for Record Store Day.
