This Weekend
October 9 to 11: a John Lennon birthday salute on Acid Flashback Friday, Rhinoceros founding member Alan Gerber on the Flower Power Hour, and the Beatles Name Drop on Psychedelic Time Warp. See the full weekend lineup.
Our Shows
Acid Flashback Radio’s weekend lineup is built around real people picking real records. Here is what you’ll hear on each show, every weekend.
A note on how the songs get picked: the sets favor album cuts and live recordings over an artist’s best-known singles. Expect deeper tracks rather than the obvious choices.
Friday
Acid Flashback Friday with DJ Uncle Steve (noon ET, three hours). Each hour opens with a track from an artist born on that day, tied to our Today in Rock History birthdays, then moves into a classic Acid Flashback set.
Saturday
Psychedelic Psaturday with DJ Kaigem (1 pm ET). Eric mixes three flavors of psych every week. The Psychedelic tier covers classic-era artists whose songs are pure psych or cross into the genre. Psyche Nuggets spotlights touchstone artists of the era, from one-hit wonders to deeper cuts, whose work didn’t leave a lasting mark on the larger story of rock. Psyche New brings in current and emerging acts carrying the genre forward, paying homage to its roots, or expanding on it.
The Flower Power Hour with Ken & MJ follows in three parts. Each hour usually has a featured artist or theme, surrounded by classic and deep-cut rock from the late 1960s and 1970s.
Sunday
Sunday’s block of long form programming runs five hours starting at 3 pm ET.
The Sunday Time Warp Show with Bart Shore (3 pm ET) draws from the AM radio era, the hits and near-hits you heard on the car radio growing up.
Psychedelic Time Warp (4 to 6 pm ET) is a two-hour, mind-expanding journey of music, comedy and memories. Bart Shore handles the voiceovers, and I produce and engineer it. Each week is either a generic show or a themed or tribute episode.
All Hand Mixed Vinyl with Bill Fitzhugh (6 pm ET). Bill, formerly of SiriusXM’s Deep Tracks, plays music mixed the way FM rock DJs were free to do it back in the day, all about the transition from one song to the next, live off vinyl with no digital editing.
The Grateful Dead Hour with David Gans (7 pm ET) features live Grateful Dead and related music, often from more than one concert, with the occasional studio track mixed in.
The Zecom Hour with Bart Shore closes the day at 8 pm ET, mixing well-known artists with rare recordings and hidden gems.
