Recently Added Music – June 2025

Lots of new music added to Acid Flashback radio on-air library.

In May and June we added more music to our radio playlist, including mostly new psych bands. We decided to up the music content from some of these bands we had in our on-air library. The playlists we sampled originally provided only song or two. We decided to dig deeper and get more from the bands we liked the most.

Rage Against The Machine – In honor of Tom Morello’s birthday we grabbed several songs from the self-titled debut album of the heavy metal, rap, punk rock and funk band notable for their anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist, and revolutionary lyrics.

Rage Against the Machine

Autocamper – The music from this young Manchester Band has a very eighties, new wave vibe. It will remind listeners of The Cure or The Church.  Their debut LP, What Do You Do All Day?, will be released July 11. In the meantime we grabbed several of their singles, including Red Flowers form the upcoming record.

Thee Oh Sees – Formed all the way back in 1997, Thee Oh Sees is the brainchild of John Dwyer. Their music ranges from garage to kraut to psyche to prog to hardcore to new wave and beyond, exploring whatever style catches their fancy at that time, and weaving it all into a frenetic, explosive show whenever they perform live.

The Nude Party – A group of six friends from Appalachian State in Boone, NC, each one of them self-taught musicians, who turned their regular jam sessions into a house band, and their habit of performing in the nude earned them their name. They would later add a seventh member on pedal steel guitar and have maintained the same lineup since. They play a mix of ’60s garage rock and psychedelic nuggets style music combined with some southern twang reminiscent of early ’70s Rolling Stones.

The Dolly Rocker Movement – an Australian pysche rock group formed in 2002. They released three albums between 2006 and 2010 before ultimately disbanding, just narrowly missing the new wave of psychedelic music and its growing fanbase. Their sound manages to evoke every band you’ve ever heard on a Nuggets compilation while maintaining stylistic cohesion. If you missed the Summer of Love, or you were there and need a little something to jog your memory, give them a spin.

Temples – A psychedelic band from Kettering, UK, Temples blur the line between psyche rock and psyche pop. Their music features dense, reverberating guitars, keys, and percussion, and nonsensical lyrics, often used to invoke poetic imagery rather than convey any sort of narrative or message.

Sugar Candy Mountain – A psyche pop duo from Oakland, CA, taking their name from George Orwell’s Animal Farm, Sugar Candy Mountain channel the lighter side of ’60s psyche, with baroque pop and sun-drenched reverb that can brighten even the cloudiest of days. Their music will sit perfectly with fans of the Beach Boys, the Beatles, and The Zombies.

Post Animal – A psyche rock band formed in Chicago, IL in 2014, Post Animal combine the fast pace jam energy of psychedelic rock with the deliberate, technical style of progressive rock, while occasionally dipping their toes into other styles such as electronica and folk. Joe Keery, known for playing Steve Harrington in Stranger Things, was a member of the band up until 2019, and is returning this year (2025) for their upcoming album and tour.

Pond – a psyche rock band from Perth, Australia formed in 2008. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala is a former member, and the two bands often share members while touring, as well as musical influences. While Tame has dropped all psyche rock elements in favor of pop pursuits, Pond has kept their psychedelic roots while exploring new spaces.

of Montreal – Founded by Kevin Barnes in Athens, GA way back in 1996, of Montreal is one of the original Elephant 6, a group of indie bands that also includes The Apples in Stereo, Neutral Milk Hotel, and The Olivia Tremor Control. These were indie bands who turned to the psyche pop of the ’60s for inspiration, both stylistically as well as in the pursuit of novel and bizarre recording techniques. While most of their peers have since dissolved, of Montreal is still going strong, with 19 studio albums to their name. Their music features a plethora of strange instruments, carefree melody, and sophisticated lyrics that often require a knowledge of obscure French literature to appreciate.

Melody’s Echo Chamber – the solo project of French artist Melody Prochet, Melody’s Echo Chamber lives up to its name. Her music fills your ears with fuzzed guitars, swirling keys, and echoing vocals that will leave your ears and your brain ringing long after the song ends.

Jacco Gardner – Belgian solo artist and producer Jacco Gardner draws inspiration from the lush psychedelia of 1960s England, where the mellotron was king. Garnder plays almost all instruments on his music and handles all the production as well, creating soundscapes reminiscent of the Moody Blues and early Pink Floyd.

Frankie and the Witch Fingers – beginning as a fun basement show band in Bloomington, IN in 2013, the original members soon moved to Los Angeles. Their early work evokes the laid-back, lofi garage style of psyche rock popular among their contemporaries. Their 2019 album ZAM marks a major turning point in their career, incorporating elements of Krautrock, alternative, punk, and jazz. Each album since has seen the band fold more and more influences into their sound, from the heavy stoner rock of Black Sabbath and Kyuss, to the frenetic, infinite freakout jams of King Gizzard, to the psychotic techno punk of DEVO on their latest (as of 2025) release. – band’s official website

Fuzz – An acid rock collaboration project between bay area musicians Ty Segall, Charles Moothart, and Chad Ubovich. If you ever wanted to understand the difference between Psychedelic Rock and Acid Rock, listen to Fuzz. Their music is unapologetically heavy and forceful, but with none of the urgency, impatience, or bravado of metal.

White Fence – The solo recording project of Tim Presley, White Fence evokes the more folky and poetic face of psychedelic music. While Presley records all of his solo albums by himself, often on a 4 track tape in his own home, he has multiple collaboration projects with artists Ty Segall and Cate Le Bon. Ever the artist, Presley also creates the cover art for most of his projects, as well as poetry.

Dying Suns – A psyche rock band out of Fresno, CA, Dying Suns was formed in 2019 by four highschool friends. Their style weaves the vocal harmonies of ’60s rock groups with early prog and hard rock of the ’70s, and the reverb-laden production of the 2010’s psyche revival. What emerges is a band unachored in time, hopping from decade to decade like Bill and Ted.

The Froot – hailing from Hull, UK, The Froot released their second album in 2025, titled “I’m Not Sure… But Then Again, I Think I Will”. A delightful throwback to the early days of prog rock, the Froot evoke Floyd, Genesis, Yes, and more on their latest record, bringing psyche rock’s redheaded stepchild back into the fold of the modern psychedelic movement.
