About David Schuster

I came out of my mother’s womb knowing that I would always be involved in sports. Morning, noon and night I grew up playing one sport or another and when I wasn’t playing I was watching anything I could on the boob tube. I was at the 1959 World Series in a diaper and was lucky enough to see another one in person (2005) before having to be in a diaper again.

I played baseball as long as my talents allowed me and when it wasn’t good enough anymore I gravitated to sports journalism. I graduated from Southern Illinois University (SIU) where I had the time of my life. It was so much fun I don’t remember much of it. Carbondale had a knack of doing that to a lot of its students.

Since graduation I have covered the Chicago sports scene for the last 30 years and have been privileged to see championships in three sports and cover some of the best athletes ever. Walter Payton and Michael Jordan just to name a couple. I am currently a reporter for WSCR The Score 670.

My love for movies is equally as strong as my passion for sports. There is no better form of entertainment and even though the prices have risen over the years, it’s still reasonable and money well spent. Nothing better then a good movie to take your mind off your problems or worries.

So here I am now combining my two loves: sports and movies and wrapping them together with a different and (hopefully) witty approach.

About Steven Leventhal

My sports playing career ended nonchalantly in tenth grade when I failed to make the baseball team. Fortunately, a new career began when I wandered over to the press box during a high school basketball game and volunteered to keep stats for the broadcast team. College brought my sports fandom to whole new level when I enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There, I witnessed big time college hoops and got to see players such as  Magic Johnson, Dominique Wilkins, Mark Price, Buck Williams, James Worthy, and some lanky kid from Wilmington named Mike Jordan.  I am probably one of the few people who can claim to have seen in person Jordan’s first and last games in a Tar Heel uniform, along with his last game in a Chicago Bulls uniform (twice.)

In college was also where I developed a love for quirky offbeat films (“Harold and Maude,” “Kentucky Fried Movie,” “Repo Man”) and cult classics (“Monty Python’s Holy Grail,” “Clockwork Orange,” “Easy Rider”) which the student union would show for free. I also saw a lot of great movies growing up during their original theatrical release such as “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “The Sting,” “Young Frankenstein,” “Star Wars,” and “Deliverance” that have made me a big fan of the silver screen.

Currently, I’m co-hosting a sports talk show with veteran sportscaster Les Grobstein on WKRS 1220 in Waukegan, IL on Saturday mornings, serving as a studio engineer for audio projects like Cubs’ announcer Pat Hughes’ “Baseball Voices: The Hall of Fame Series,” and have created several websites including YourSportsFan.com. This blog is my newest endeavor.
