Chicago Bears' Season Derails at Home Against Seattle

December 18, 2011 by InternetFM Staff

It’s hard to picture which was a worse train wreck, the one that is central to the plot in the movie “Super 8” which I watched Saturday night, or what however many of the 61,542 fans who chose to show up at Soldier Field witnessed on Sunday afternoon.

Chicago gave up thirty-one unanswered points in the second half en route to the aforementioned 38-14 disaster at the wings of the Seattle Seahawks. About the only entertaining things that Bears finds might have heard was the loquacious pronouncements of referee Ed Hochuli when he explained some of his calls.

Caleb Hanie did nothing to ensure his presence in next week’s game at Green Bay.  He was flat out atrocious, going 10-23 with but a single TD, against 3 picks, one of which was gift wrapped to Red Bryant for a 20-yard pick six. His performance made Tavaris Jackson, a Vikings castoff look good.

“You can’t win with five turnovers, it’s as simple as that,” mused coach Lovie Smith after the game.

Duh!

Since the injury to Jay Cutler and then Matt Forte, the wheels have come off, the suspension has broken, the axle has cracked on a team that was 7-3 four losses ago.  A team that was once in the drivers seat, has completely derailed, and should be re-tooling for next season.

Listen to Smith, Caleb Hanie, Roberto Garza, and Julius Peppers.  20111217_bears
