3D VJ II

December 29, 2020 by Marty Masters

I’m Uncle Marty, this is The 3D RadioActivity number 567, as we continue our retrospective look at Chicago’s Vee Jay records. The parent company adopted a distinctive label design: a rainbow-colored band around a black and silver background which featured an inset red and white oval logo. There were a great number of hits to come out of their headquarters at 1449 Michigan Avenue, for them and their subsidiaries like Champion Falcon, Fame, Interphon & Tollie. I’m positive that we have more than a few to scratch your musical itch.

We have spent the season taking an in depth look at several incredible recording studios covering Sun and Stax in Memphis along with Chess and Vee Jay in Chicago. I could easily continue in this direction as there still are a ton of tunes we haven’t touched, so they will come back somewhere down the line. I do have a pocket full of other general featured themes on hand, so we will pick one out of the proverbial hat as a surprise next time. Got any suggestions? Tell me by  sending  email,  or with a message on our Facebook page where you can find links to the earlier episodes and always airedorable show artwork in the photo section.  Tell all discerning music listeners to look for us on Denver’s  MileHiRadio,  Theacidflashback.com,  TuneIn,  and  InternetFM dot com, because the best FM radio is now on the Internet.

Until we meet again, Keep Rockin’ On!
